Project Details
The Steelcoat™ Wind Turbine Base Protection System is designed to protect bases, bolts and flanges at the bottom of offshore wind turbines.
For 90 offshore wind turbines in Denmark, corrosion issues were identified around the bolts at the bases, and the existing coating was flaking off. The Steelcoat Wind Turbine Base Protection System was selected to protect all turbines from corrosion from the elements.
The system comprises of Premtape Hi-Tack™ Primer, Premtape™ LD Mastic, Premtape Hi-Tack™, Premcote™ Primer, Premier Ultraseal RT Tape™ and Premier™ Acrylic Topcoat.
The client found the products easy to use, and liked the fact that the system allows for movement of the tower, no blasting required (surface tolerant).
After loose material, dirt and debris is cleaned from the application area, Premtape Hi-Tack Primer is applied
